Remastered version!  Still sealed!

Kiss: Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley (vocals, guitar); Gene Simmons (vocals, bass); Peter Criss (vocals, drums). Additional personnel: Anton Fig (drums). Recorded at The Record Plant, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Robert Conte. Digitally remastered by Bill Levenson. Released in 1980, UNMASKED is the first album by Kiss not featuring the four original members. Although featured on the album cover, drummer Peter Criss was replaced by session man and David Letterman band member Anton Fig. With disco all but dead and new wave setting in, the group took a pop approach with producer Vini Poncia at the helm. While the record may have alienated hard core fans that were used to the band's heavier sound, the record did manage to appeal to Kiss' ever growing kiddie base. The band's lyrical content remained consistent though, as ''Is That You?'' describes a vixen-like character close to the group. ''Shandi'', the only single off the record, is a catchy pop ballad featuring Paul Stanley on lead vocals. Lead guitarist Ace Frehley contributes vocally to 2 tracks: ''Talk To Me'' and ''Torpedo Girl'', increasing his input in the group compared to previous years. While UNMASKED may not be Kiss's hardest rocking offering, it's certainly a tight, well crafted rock album that is thoroughly enjoyable and showcases the band's talents.

    KISS * Unmasked
    4.0 stars

This KISS Lp is genuine with the official members of KISS. I notice Ace Frehley is lead vocals more than once here. He does a great job. When VH1 That Metal Show had Ace on as a guest. They asked him, "what is his favorite album?" He pointed to this one. Love the original line up. But, with anything we love that falls apart. I want my Mom and Dad to be my real Mom and Dad. lol.. And we let go of what served it's purpose. Nothing like the original members. Even if I loved them almost as much as my parents at one time. lol.. What matters most is their still making Albums! Tommy Thayer lead guitar as Ace Frehley. Eric Singer on drums as Peter Criss. Maybe, one day my dream will come true? As long as they keep rocking. My chances to see them in concert is greater. I love listening to albums. Unmasked is an album worth listening to. Good music at an affordable price. Albums are produced even less now days. Music can be produced on a laptop. Many recording studio's are gone because of the one hit wonder. I can purchase a song thats #1 on the billboard. That leaves less room for talent and hard work. Recording, Printing, Promoting, Touring because the album is worth all that. I do enjoy this Band. I like this album a lot..
